They were unaware that their conversation was being recorded. Does it matter how people eavesdrop?

Even countries are permitted to engage in private dialogue with each other right? So representatives of countries can privately discuss things.

It's not really a private conversation, though, is it? I mean, they're behind microphones at a conference…

They are representatives of entire countries too; you'd expect they'd be used to being nearly always "in public."

To be honest, I think it's a little unethical for the media to publish stuff like that. How would you like it if the media published a conversation you had in private? I think it's unethical.

Ok, I take back the comment I made previously. CNN.com did in fact air the recorded transcript, complete with swear word.

Interesting how the New Zealand Herald, BBC etc actually quoted the swear word Bush used. Whereas the New York Times (and most other US media) did not quote the swear word. No surprises here! It's just too shocking for all those Born Agains. Even though the US media does tend to be conservative (you could argue that censoring swear words from journalism is tasteful), I'm still sure that if Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, or leaders of Iran/Syria/Hamas were to say the exact same swear word it would be quoted by the US media. Hippokrit.
