Lunch and Confusion
So AJ and I are having lunch at the Hare Krishna place, ostensibly so AJ can find out about the gathering he’s been invited to on Saturday night.
We order, we grab a table. Our food and drinks arrive, and we eat and drink. (Great stuff, by the way. I recommend the Indian Falafel on Brown Rice.) Then, before we leave, AJ goes to find out the details of this Saturday thing. After waiting at the counter for a bit, someone finally arrives. AJ asks his question. The girl replies:
“Oh, you’ll want the Hare Krishna restaurant, across the road.”
AJ manages to stifle his question (“You mean, you’re not?”) and we go across the road to the correct place.
It turns out that the Lotus Heart cafe is not Hare Krishna; it’s all about Sri Chinmoy. Ah well, the food was good.

hey there. I’m a Hare Krishna in CHCH. Nice reading your blog. Funny how the two restaurants ended up pitted against eachother like that. No interreligious conflicts flying across Columbo St. as of yet as far as I’m aware.
Anyway - if you have any theological inquiries regarding Hare Krishna I’m happy to get into it with you in a non-evangelical way. I’m more of a Hare Krishna based on the philosophy and not so much based on the institution/organization. Not too sure what they do there on Saturday nights but I’ve heard its pretty watered down. (Let’s keep that a secret though shall we?)
