Your Weekly Indie Fix

These are bands or musicians I am digging at the moment, and from whose websites you can download musics:

  • Cloud Cult are pretty random, somewhat pop. Listen to “Outside of Your Skin.”

  • Deathray is half of what used to be Cake, but is now entirely different. Nice indie-pop — I recommend the tracks “White Sleeves” and “The Only One.”

  • Laura Veirs sings and plays ‘indie-folk,’ apparently. It’s slightly country, mostly acoustic stuff, and it’s pretty cool. Go here to get the spectacular “Fire Snakes,” or get a few older tracks from her site.

And some sources for more:

  • Aurgasm is a blog which makes a few tracks available every couple of days; mostly indie-type stuff.

  • ScissorKick is another blog, but focussed largely on chilled-out ‘organic electronic’ type music.

Enjoy.

[Update 3/9/05:] I now have the Laura Veirs CD, if anyone is interested in having a listen.
