Embarrassing Music I Have On My Computer

According to whatever “musical elitist indie snob” criteria I work by.

  • Audioslave. Rage Against The Machine were awesome. Audioslave is not.
  • Creed. At least it’s only the first two albums, which are somewhat excusable.
  • John Mayer. It’s cool, but it really is flower-pop.
  • Linkin Park. Their earlier stuff was better, but Meteora fits firmly in the nu-metal-pop-sellout category.
  • The Offspring.
  • Pacifier. Shihad were awesome. Pacifier are not.
  • Rehab. Redneck White Rap. If you’ve never heard of these guys you’re not missing out.
  • Robbie Williams. Yeeaaah.
  • Sugar Ray. I mean, they are catchy, but…
  • Vanessa Carlton.
  • Zed. “Daisy” is a cool song. “This Little Empire” is not a cool album.

Stuff I possibly should be embarrassed of, but am not:

  • William Shatner. If you can find his cover of Pulp’s “Common People,” you need to hear it.
  • Korn. Ok, so only a few songs off “All In The Family” or earlier. Shuttup.
  • Limp Bizkit. Again, a couple good songs.
  • Skillet. Their first two albums are actually kinda cool (hmm, noticing a theme with the ‘early albums.’)
  • Seal.
  • No Doubt. I have way too much of these guys, AND I LOVE THEM!
  • 24Seven. They’re at the ‘Chute again in ‘05 (with their new drummer) — go see them.
  • Goldenhorse. More girl-pop. Yay!

    hmm.

    Embarassing:
    * Linkin Park, reanimation (not sooo bad as it has actual musicians featuring on it.)

    Should be:
    * Joy electric :P
    * BlenderHeads - honestly, i should think its crap, but i like it. go figure.

Theres probabably some stuff from purevolume i would be embarassed about if i could find it.

i think thats about it… (in my itunes playlist anyway)

Interesting factoid of the day #1: They’re Pacifier no more. Let’s see if the sellout can be reversed ;).

As for me… hmm, I own (or more correcly was given) Garbage’s 3rd CD “Beautiful Garbage” and Matchbox Twenty’s second “Mad Season”. Both followed albums that were actually OK, and both suck. Also, Blink 182, say no more, and I still have a Killing Heidi CD down there I think.

Most of my music is shameful, I’m not even going to go there! And I don’t even have any good CDs to replace it with, because they’re so expensive & I love music too much, so if I bought a few I’d just have to feed my addiction.

I’ll just sponge off you & Breo next year (& delete all the music on my computer so you won’t laugh at me)

ps - I have about 4 Hanson tapes at home, when I was 13 I thought they were sooo cool. I listened to a couple of songs for fun a coupla years ago, & I still liked it! HARRRR!

There was that one Hanson song I quite liked for a while… not mmmbop but the other one. Then again, that was at the same time as my Savage Garden Phase. KJHASASD I mean what?!? No!??! I’m awesome!!

Also, iTunes is dumb and doesn’t list compilation artists with the rest, so I failed to mention a couple of *puts hand over mouth and mumbles* Marilyn Manson and Rammstein songs. They were on a compilation CD, honest. DU HAST!!

However, Matt… Skillet are awesome! no need to be ashamed of them!!

Why do we get embarrassed about matters of personal taste … if you want to wear pink spandex, why worry about whether everyone else is wearing it or not! Music is funny …

Speaking of hot music! Matt have you seen Bend it like Beckham? Shame on you if you haven’t … football chix all the way. Um I just bought the soundtrack, and it’s real amazing, heaps of indian-style music mixed in with good old British pop that somehow links in my mind to football. Anyway it makes you either want to dance or play football, or both! If only I had that kind of music going when I play football … sigh
