Theology Professor ordered out of U.S.

Courtesy of Greenflame (the blog of one of my lecturers from last semester), and Christianity Today comes this article about a Professor at Fuller Theological Seminary being ordered to leave the U.S..

It’s pretty scary; the U.S. has redefined (for visa purposes at least), the term “religious professional.â€? It now means someone working in an “approved seminary,â€? which means tied to a specific, single denomination. This bodes badly, considering the large number of inter-denominational seminaries in the States, and how important many of them are to worldwide theology. It looks like a number of other widely-respected theologians can expect to be kicked out too—so much for religious freedom.

Reminds me of that whole journalism visa beat-up-on-foreigners story from a couple of months ago…
