Influence
One of the things that struck me about the story of The Ramones was the irony of their lack of success. How did they manage to have such a massive impact on everything music, creating a new genre and inspiring other bands for 20 years plus, and still not make it big themselves?
But then, I think of others who fit that profile. I guess the ultimate example is Jesus. He died a criminal’s death after a 3-year career, but millions of people now are willing to die for his cause. Maybe it’s not about how well-known you are, but how big your ‘ripples’ are. Hopefully I can make some decent ripples in my time.

The Pixies, too. Since Fight Club there’s been a resurgence of the 80s band that basically invented the early 90s before Kurt.

Would it be better to make ripples on your own? Or to join in the larger ripple?

Apparently in our lifetime we directly affect 10,000 people so we will always make ripples it just depends on if they are good ripples or not. yay for (good) ripples!
