Emo + Worship = ?
Last night me and Andrew were round at Raj’s. The plan was to have a bit of worship, with acoustic guitars and a bongo. As we all seem to be somewhat into emo (the music style) at the moment, we figured we’d try emo worship.
Emo, for those not obsessive about musical genres, is called so because it tends to be quite emotional. Topics normally range from girls to, well, girls (a small exaggeration, but you get the idea), which goes some way towards explaining why a) it’s normally sung by boys and b) it’s emotional. It’s generally quite fast, somewhere between punk and rock in flavour, and has a certain energy about it. And, every so often (in a phenomenon called screamo) the vocals get a bit, well, extra emotional.
So anyway, that’s emo. Now you just have to imagine nice worship songs like “Light of the World” and “To the Ends of the Earth” performed in the aforementioned fashion. I think the best thing about it was that we were just able to *get into it*. There was no ‘nice Christian behaviour’ expected; we didn’t need to do the church thing. We were just jamming, having fun, and giving mad props to God at the same time. Heh. We even did “Let Our Praise to You be as Incense” in drop-d, Easter Camp style. Wicked cool. My throat hurts.
I wish church was like that. I *like* worshipping like that.

Sounds like fun :). I’ve never really listened to much emo though (does Jimmy Eat World count as emo?).
Also, the bad news: IE6 is doing the dropped-content-below-sidebar thing again. Yeah, I know I shouldn’t be using it, but Firefox is *still* a bit crashy on my computer for some reason.

Yep, Jimmy Eat World would be emo. They’re probably the most well-known, but I believe stuff like Dashboard Confessional, and a lot of Blink 182’s newer stuff, is also emo.

Also in the well known (but not realised) is old weaser stuff. (pinkerton is reputedly really emo actualy, and thats why everyone hated it :P). the green (? - one with hashpipe anyway) is crap (heavish) poprock so you can ignore that.
Sounds fun anyways.

Should be… it’s working fine for me. (That’s probably the last thing you want to hear). I don’t know that I’d trust the Atom feed, but the RSS2 should be fine.
On the other hand, if you’re talking about the comments feed, it has been a little flaky. I had to manually tweak the timezone to stop it delaying comments by a number of hours.
