About

I'm Matt Wilson. I currently live in Auckland, New Zealand, and I'm married to a very awesome Canadian called Lisa.

I'm a hobbyist photographer, beginner surfer, and terribly out-of-practice musician. I was born in 1983.

I currently work for Assembly doing 3D graphics and motion of various kinds in Houdini, Unreal Engine, Unity, and WebGL, and building internal tools and webapps. For about a decade prior to that (and occasionally still) I did web development, mostly with Python & Django, mostly for Sons & Co.

I studied theology and actually set out at 17 to become a missionary, but accidentally became somewhat of an atheist instead. I left most of it behind, but a part that stuck with me were travels to the poorest parts of Kolkata, India, and to the Rohingya concentration camps in northern Myanmar. I hope to never forget just how fortunate and privileged I am, and I try to speak out for people suffering.

This is my very occasionally updated personal website, on which all views are purely my own and should not be associated with any employers etc.
