I've run out of ideas, thoughts, and philosophies

May 2007

I've run out of ideas, thoughts, and philosophies. I stand on the edge of a great discovery, but it's an action, not an idea, and all the thinking in the world won't bring it any closer. This is where the journey begins.

Thoreau says........

It is my favorite chapter of Walden.

Matt commented:

This bit:

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms…

… is exactly where I'm at.

That's where it's from! After watching "Dead Poet's Society" so many years ago I always wondered.

I especially like the paragraph with this in it: "Morning is when I am awake and there is a dawn in me". There's something in that... it's always on the edge of your mind, you know?

Interesting place for you to be.

IDIEEASY commented:

oh man, irony abounds.

not just the writting of an idea about an action thats not an idea (is there such a thing?), but the fact that you are "there" but instead of acting, you blog ideas.

I had to seriously consider not posting this comment, but then I remembered that I dont actually care about acting over thinking that much.

Lets face it, we're all screwed.

Idieeasy: In matt's defense, I note that matt actually did lend his car out, and to the best of my knowledge has been been biking around since. This presumably follows this post.
